NATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARDS:
Links and Contact Numbers
Whenever a family
or individual plans to relocate, they invariably want to know about
the environmental and/or local hazards in the area they are
considering or for the home they plan to purchase. Some of those
hazards are listed below with links or telephone #’s to hotlines or
websites. Obviously this is just a small sample of the information
available on-line, in publications, and by telephone. We do not in
any way warrant or guarantee the correctness of the information
supplied below or that found in the links or contact #’s. And this
list is not all-inclusive with regard to all of the hazards that
might be known or recorded in a particular area. This is provided
as a start to any research you might wish to conduct, before
relocating or purchasing a home. If you have suggestions for
additions or you find false or incorrect data at any of the sites,
please notify us ASAP at the following e-mail address. abuyerschoice@earthlink.net
With regards to
‘Climate and Terrain’
types of Hazards,
according to a previous article on the Johnson City TN web page, (http://www.johnsoncitytn.com),
“This region in considered a ‘temperate zone’. We have comfortable
summers and relatively mild winters. Our moderate climate also
gives us a spring and fall that are arguably the most beautiful
anywhere. The mountainous terrain of the area and the position on
the continent make us a
‘no-hazard zone’
– the only time we’re worried about tornadoes, earthquakes, floods,
or hurricanes is when we’re on vacation somewhere else!”
